Getting a restraining order

The AP keeps stalking our family after years of being told to leave us alone and made the appearance again in front of our house two weeks ago, clearly on purpose.

Anyone here ever got a restraining / harassing / stalking order from the court? Do they work?

Sometimes they do work and sometimes they don’t.

If you press charges the next time the AP appears after the restraining order is in force, it might stop the behavior and stop the appearances.

However it could enrage the AP and escalate the behavior. You should be prepared for that.

I have not gotten a restraining order as LTAP lives out of state. But the cyberstalking continued for years after I exposed to OBS [it may still and she'd just gotten better at it - that wouldn't surprise me].

We did contact an attorney and he did send a harshly worded Cease & Desist which outlines not to talk to us, call us, email us, look at us on social media, create fake profiles to look at us on social media and/or have someone do all that on her behalf.

If she is caught violating any of that we can go for a full restraining order. There is no expiration date.

I hope it never comes to that - but if need be I'll pursue it to the highest extent.

Not the AP, but I've done a restraining order. Get with an attorney. Only they will know what is specifically required to successfully execute a restraining order. Also, make sure very time she comes on your property you call the police and file a complaint.
