Makes perfect sense. I had some of the exact same thoughts. Two years later, I'm not dating anyone, not looking for it, and am enjoying being myself.

Not looking also prevents me from feeling any guilt over replacing her. Or using someone as a filler.

A relationship has benefits, sure, but it also has responsibilities... and I am thoroughly enjoying not having those at the moment.

I'm sure sometime in the future that'll change. I'll either want the benefits enough to tolerate the responsibilities or someone will sneak their way into my heart. Until then, I say meh.

I need someone emotionally, but that poor girl is going to get one hell of an emotion dumping on.

Go to IC, you need to process a lot. Work on that with a professional before you start dating. You want you next serious relationship to be about you and her, NOT about the prior relationship.

Give yourself a year or so to process and work though the complex emotional issues.
