I have not been feeling well for the last ten days. I am exhausted. I wake up tired and always feel like I want to lay down. I also have trouble focusing. The last few days I have had a headache and neck pain that might be muscular. I did an at home covid test yesterday and it was negative.

Should I still be concerned with covid or am I covered with yesterday's negative test?

Thanks!!

Well, I will say from our recent run-in with covid, all of us had only about 12 hours between a negative test and a positive test. And we all were still testing positive when we thought we were over it. One of my kids and I tested positive for about 2 weeks.

I'd test again if you aren't feeling better soon. Good luck!

I would definitely retest, and if it's negative, try to get a PCR test.

If you don't have COVID, you might just have another virus that is making the rounds due to people not being as diligent with mitigation efforts, so other bugs are popping up that hadn't really been in play the last couple of years.

I took the first test too early when I had it in January, I knew I had it, based in symptoms and talking to patients daily with it. So I waited 48 hours and yes the next test was positive. Same with my H.

However if you have been battling this for 10 days I suspect you may have a different bug. RSV, strep and Influenza A are all going around as well. The fact that you are 10 days into it means you aren't a candidate for the paxlovid (which anecdotally isnt doing much) or antibody infusion. So even if you did seek care they possibly would treat you for a secondary bacterial infection. So if you have fever great than 100.5, green snot, coughing up green mucous then seek care. Otherwise drink tons of water, acetaminophen for fever and aches, mucinex to thin the snot/secretions, lots of rest, and if coughing good old robitussin with honey.
Humidify your room you sleep in. Vapor rub on the chest to help open airways. If you dont feel like eating or aren't eating then get some protein shakes. Your body needs the fuel to heal and recover.
Zinc, vitamin C, D, B complex all help with recovery too.

The present variant takes three days to test positive. At tens days out, you are probably dealing with something else. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks all. I did another test today and it was also negative. My H's relatives from out of state are coming tomorrow so I wanted to be sure it wasn't covid.

I don't have any respiratory symptoms. Mainly exhaustion, headache and neck and shoulder pain. I feel horrible the first part of the day and better after dinner. Nobody else is sick. I keep thinking I'm getting better and then have another really bad day. I hope it's just a virus.

Thanks for the responses!!!
