Bread... just made an awesome foccacia bread from a website. Let it rise overnight in my fridge and put fresh rosemary from my little plant on it.

Got me thinking with all the wind out there that I cant wait for spring to come.

Drgn, I dont keep animals, but I do keep plants. Got a fig from my husbands grandma that was brought over from Malta. His aunt and cousin grew him a cutting as a bday present last year. It was the first time Ive ever had a fig and I was nervous I would kill it somehow by overwintering it incorrectly. I pulled off its wrapping yesterday and the buds are still green! Its nowhere near nice enough for it to go outside, but the light from the window in the garage should be enough to get it going.

On top of that, I have 3 orchids, 2 geraniums from last summer, a clivia, a HUGE (5'!!) Fiddle leaf fig and a gardenia. Oh, and Christmas cactus, aloe and some other random succulents. And a peace lily and one of those indestructible pothos vines.

And mine dont try and escape in the night or bite laugh

I can’t stand loud chewers too! My daughter tends to chew with her mouth open. I’m so used to telling her to chew with her mouth closed. I was at work, I was tired and someone was chewing loudly. Without thinking I told them to chew with their mouth closed. blush laugh oops!

Does anyone have a good raisin bread recipe? I have a bread machine and I get my bread taste right.

that sounds yummy. Would you be willing to share the recipe?

Now I want to make some yummy food blush

We are not having high winds right now but a while back we did…in fact half of the siding on one side of my house blew off. I was fortunate that I have a wonderful neighbor that called me while I was at work about it. Now every time the wind is really strong. I go outside to make sure nothing has blown away. So I hope we don’t have strong winds anytime so again.

I am not fond of loud chewing noises. I used to work with someone that would snack on baby carrots every damn day and I could hear every single bite.

My H and DD really can't stand loud chewing or chewing with your mouth open so we have very quiet meals.

I'm hungry for bread now!!

The wind is still crazy!! Wish me luck getting the dogs outside.

Foccacia bread yum! My favorite recipe is a dinner roll recipe. I make half dinner rolls and half cinnamon rolls.

We use to have a bread maker the paddle broke, we couldn’t find the piece to repair now I just make it myself. I have been inspired for new recipes since watching the great British cooking show.

I was woken at 330am my daughter woke up and the high winds had knocked out a metal panel on the sun porch. My husband went to go help. Then her back seized and I got her into my shower as it was 3 feet from where she was frozen. Got some meds and now I am awake.

My Dad 91 soon to be 92 has gotten mean. Dad is really mean to my BIL. He has decided his caregiver must wash the kitchen floor daily. I think it is genetic his Grandma was like that to. I think about that.

I think our husky puppy peed on the floor because she didn’t like being alone. Took her 3 minutes of being alone.

Can dogs really be like that, a bit angry? On the carpet too.

The focaccia recipe is from bonappetit. If you google "shockingly easy no-knead focaccia" and bonappetit, you'll find it :). Can't post links here, but that should get you there!

The bread is SO GOOD. I'm going to be making it for company here on out. It's blowing my mind that I'm making yeast breads at all- I always thought they were too hard to master.

Be prepared to use a TON of olive oil though.

My dog gets pissy when we don't let her out at 3am. She likes to wee in the guest room. When the door is left open, she has 2 favorite pee spots. Needless to say, last week the door was left open and I went in and found a pond of piss. Did the baking soda and vinegar trick to neutralize it. Still, it's frustrating because when I wash it, it pushes the piss puddle further out. I'm going to have to borrow my neighbor's carpet cleaner soon to sort this out.

Dog was canus non-grata this weekend. I had to deal with her piss patch and lice infestation all in the same day. Poor DD couldn't get her hair cut (obviously!) because of it!!

My BH's grandpa wasn't mean so much as old, stubborn and demanding. Refused to move in a home after he couldn't drive, keep himself fed, washed and house sanitary. Demanded his 3 daughters care for him the whole time. Didn't want anyone coming in and helping him with the house- no house keeping, MIL had to do the lion share as her one sister was living out of town and the other was routinely "busy" with her own grandkids. Made me mad watching her sisters walk over her and her father's unreasonable demands. At the least, she could have put her foot down and demanded housekeeping services. She has her own house, grandkids, etc to deal with.

He was a pistol. Our uncle had to sabotage his car (took out spark plugs I think?? Something electrical) when he couldn't drive anymore as he was in denial. Refused to let them take the keys. laugh

Anyway, it ended up being a blessing anyhow as she was able to know in her heart she did everything she could for her father. It made mourning him a bit easier having that peace of mind. I genuinely hope I can return the love my in-laws have shown us when it's their turn. Just, I know my limits and if I'm going to be doing physical care, I'm NOT going to be doing the upkeep care. They can live with us if it comes to that!

Maybe take a day off to yourself? I've got 2 mental health days tomorrow and Thursday. Got a lot of background stuff going on myself and my IC strongly recommended I do it.

Maybe you do that too?

Lost a friend today in Ontario. Stage four much advanced cancer. He chose the right to die route and picked today at 3pm as his 'leaving time.' He's out of pain but I know his family are all grieving. His illness was diagnosed late due to not being able to get in for tests which might have saved him last Spring and Summer. I respect those who have the 'right to die' option as that is not available where I am. It has to be a tough choice to make but he felt the choice by far outweighed his pain and suffering needlessly.

Jeaniegirl. I'm so sorry for your loss. As hard as it is I believe the right to chose when is so much better than waiting it out. I'm sure he was pain-free when he went.

Hugs. Still sucks for those left behind who miss him.

Mother Nature is high right now. One day clear snd cold. The next cloudy and warmer but more snow. Then boom hey rain....then it all freezes and everything is covered in ice. Omg get a grip. Have seen Robin's already. They are a sure sign of spring.

Jeanie - sorry for the loss. The right to choose is an amazing gift. I hope his family and loved ones find comfort and peace in knowing he is no longer in pain or suffering.

Drgn - The weather. I was 80 here last week for a day, and tomorrow we are projected to get snow/sleet and accumulation. ENOUGH!!!! I did pick some daffodils on Saturday because it was warm out and some were blooming where they get sun most of the day. So it's nice to see them and smell them. Spring is coming, and winter is giving its last of its fury.
Next week projecting warm again, and we are going on our first outing of the year with the camper, to fish and going with a guide on a lake we haven't fished, but is known for giant Crappie. So that will be exciting.

Tush, I agree the 'right to die' is an enormous gift for those in horrible pain - to choose to end their own suffering. I think in the USA, the state of Oregon is the only place that is legal to choose. I once met Dr. Korvakian at a seminar and he had been described as a cold hearted killer - but I found him to be very warm and compassionate.

Weather here is CRAZY too - hot one day, sleet and slow the next. We too are expecting sleet and snow tomorrow night through Saturday with very sub freezing temps and then Sunday -- big warm up. READY for Spring!

I’m not at my best these days, so my responses might reflect that fact.

I can’t have caffeine. I’m serious. Shortly after getting married, I was having repeated fibrocystic breast issues, and my H loved me then, so he begged me to never have caffeine again - because it exacerbates the situation. I promised. Why, I’ll never know...I think we were naked at the time, so that may have had something to do with it. rolleyes

I say all that to say I LOVE, CRAVE, and ADORE chocolate...but haven’t eaten it, or anything else caffeinated, for over 30 years. crying

My new favorite show on tv is the one about Scientology. (Definitely not trying to start a conversation about religion). But one reference concerned parents legally turning over their kids to someone.

I did that.

I can’t even believe I’m saying that. We sent my son to a wilderness program due to struggles and bad choices at the time. We had faith in the program and still do, but we had to sign papers to that effect while he was there. It hit me so hard when I was watching the show that I haven’t quite gotten over it.

I’m in about my 2nd month of quarantine. My son, and then H had Covid. And now my granddaughter has been sick. She finally has a diagnosis of PFAPA. Found out it isn’t really serious, or contagious, but could be something that she has to deal with for the next few years.

Oh, and my oldest / dearest friend from childhood is at home with her daughter (about 35 yrs old) in Hospice, dying with liver failure. She was adopted, mother was an alcoholic, drinking heavily during pregnancy, and the daughter was an alcoholic as a result. She basically drank herself to death. The last time they had to take her to the hospital to drain fluid off of her belly, the doctor said there was no way she could live long enough to have 1 year of sobriety in before the needed liver transplant. This is killing me just because of the sadness, and unnecessary element...but also because I have an adopted son who continues to drink, and I’m so very aware that the same thing could happen to him.

Sorry to bring down the levity of the thread.

This morning, what’s on my mind is that I am thinking of you, Dragn. I hope you are somehow getting some rest, and feeling some resolve for what you seem to be about to go through.

I’m also thinking of my friend that I mentioned earlier. Her daughter passed away this morning at about 6 AM. My deepest pain these days is when I am not able to help my kids. But secondly, is the way that you you feel when someone you love is hurting, and there is nothing you can do other than just "be there" for them.
