Some things can't be fixed...

The Truth, An uncomfortable book about relationships

So this guy is a journalist, Neil Strauss, that made a career writing books about how to pick up women basically.

He ended up unable to have a meaningful relationship with his girlfriend and cheated.

I don't want to give too much of his story away as it's really a great story to read (or listen I have it on audible)

The book follows him from cheating on his girlfriend, to sex addiction rehab, his exploration of alternative lifestyles and ultimately his conclusions.

My husband wasn't a sex addict but I just came across the book and thought it sounded interesting - it was. Obviously this is a person with access to the rich and famous and he lives a lifestyle most of us would never live, but at the same time what we find is he's really just a normal guy.

It's quite long, but worth a read. Lots of insight.

The Green Mile

By Stephen King.

The movie has been one of my favourites for a long time, but only just got around to reading the book. I was interested to see which I would like best.

I think this is a one time thing, and testimony to just how well written, cast, and directed etc the movie was.... I love both.

I've not watched the movie in a while, but I will again, and from what I can remember the main storyline stayed really true to the book.

What the book adds (I can't remember the movie adding as much) is just a bit more of the story of Paul Edgecombe being in the retirement home.

If I was still getting books in paperback, this one would be popped onto the shelf of books that I revisit and reread, probably many times in the future. As it is, it shall be popped into the 'favourites' file on my kindle :)

10/10

Before I go to sleep

by SJ Watson.

I downloaded this ages ago but never got around to it. However noticed it's now a movie and I generally prefer to read first... So I did.

It took me a while to get into but I did enjoy it once I did. The story is about a woman who suffers from a form of amnesia, where every morning she wakes up not knowing where she is, or anything about her current life. Think a serious and dark version of '50 first dates' if you have seen that movie.

You can tell from the beginning really that the story will have some twists, you can feel the truth lurking below the surface of what she knows. However I still found the twists surprising when they did happen. I won't hint at them Here though!

Anyways, I did enjoy the story, not one I would rave and read 6 times over but still worth a read, and I will happily check out the movie on Netflix now :)

I would give the book 7/10

Just discovered you guys :)

I love reading, almost always have my nose in a kindle or book.

I've just finished the much recommended 'Not just Friends' which I've found helpful.

In progress I am reading...

The Green Mile, Stephen King

The Artists Way, Julia Cameron,

and finally,

Before I go to Sleep by SJ Watson, which is also a movie now but I haven't seen it yet.

I love the Green Mile movie, I'm hoping I like the book as much.
