Maybe I'm just toooooooo impatient and worried, but DS3, who has suffered a concussion, traumatic brain injury after being dropped flat on the back of his head, then a menengitis with a tear in the meninges in the area. At the moment it's too small to operate (according to the top drs in the country, so I believe them).

He's having daily physio, focusing on the head area that's affected. That's supposed to help, at least in theory, idk.

Anyway, every other day or so he is still vomiting and has nausea. Still sensitive to light.

I'm going crazy with the waiting.

Any advice from the med peeps, and extra mojo would be MOST gratefully appreciated.

Thank you all SI army!!

med peeps - DS3 update (tbi)

So the latest on DS3 is that he has suffered a traumatic brain injury (which we pretty much already knew) but also some other problems.

He has been having arm / leg numbness along with back spasms, for which he has been prescribed (daily Mon-Sat) physiotherapy.

When he was at physio today, the physio thought his neck felt weird so sent him to the hospital. There they did an eeg and found a part of his brain that seemed slow to react, so they followed up with (another?) ct scan.

They found a tear in the meninges where some fluid was leaking out, probably that's what's causing the pressure and arm / leg numbness I guess? And identified the location of the injury to his brain from his concussion.

So physiotherapy is going to focus on that part for the next ~month, and they said if there isn't any progress, they would probably need to do a surgery. (I guess this is the procedure where they put in a shunt for the liquid to drain??) Anyway, we're not there yet.

DS3 is in good humor, but bummed out that he's supposed to be taking it easy (he's always been very sporty). He expressed relief that there was some explanation and a plan for going forward. And I'm so proud of how he's making good decisions about his health. He is not hesitating about going back to the hospital when he's not feeling right.

Any and all info along with mojo, thoughts, prayers, shared experience, etc. most greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much.

DS3 got meningitis..... he's doing better now but was really sick for about 2 weeks.

WH had a heart attack Monday. He's very thin, but eats a lot of fatty foods. Anyway, he had 2 stents put in and there is a third artery with some blockage but they didn't add a stent to that one.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop now..... sad sad sad sad sad sad

If flying to Europe this summer - Avoid Schipol (ams) and London Gatwick (lgw)

In an effort to reduce travel chaos, Schipol (AMS) airport is limiting passengers by 13,500 due to not enough security personnel. In a double whammy, London Gatwick is reducing daily flights too.

And can we make that a triple whammy?? DS3 needs to fly home soon because he needs to get army stuff, he starts 4 July (and where is he coming from? yup, ams), while DS1 is coming home from London to visit for the first time since xmas 2019. And he usually flies from (yup you guessed it) Gatwick because it's most convenient for him.

Soooooooo, I guess DS1 will switch to either London Heathrow or Luton. DS3 won't have much choice unless he takes a long train journey to another country and flies here from there.

I have seen pix of the looooooong security lines as AMS, reminds me of 10 August 2006, when LHR closed because of the liquids scare. I was at a conference in Seattle, then was to fly to LA to meet WH and the boys, who were connecting from our country through..... you got it, LHR. Their plane had already take off from our country and had to turn around and fly back. They got put up at a 5* hotel (of which there are many here), so the boys had a great time in the pool. Then the next day they got rerouted through a nearby city in Germany. They had to stay there overnight before there was clearance over US airspace, another overnight there and then finally coast to coast and we met in LA. What a clusterfuck!!!!!!

I had no idea what was going on with them until their final flight, because every time I checked their reservation number there were different flights (one was even supposed to go through Bombay....).

Ah, what memories it all brings back....... laugh laugh laugh laugh

trains anyone???

Most train services in Great Britain will be cancelled Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (strike).

London Underground strike 24 hours Tuesday. So I guess DS1 doesn't have to work!! (or works from home)

Reminds me of the good old days when British Airways went on strike every summer.
