Help with Whatsapp

So I checked my phone and saw he was last on whatapp at 10am. He left his phone open so I checked his whatapp messages. One message was from yesterday. I then closed the application and checked my phone....it still showed he only was online at 10am. What is going on? He has a Samsung...what am I missing here? What is the number on this phone/sim card?
