So my granddaughter copies my daughter quite well. She is brutally smart and picks up on everything. I was watching her and asked her to go pick something up. She looked at me, rolled her eyes, and said "whatever"…..guys, she’s 2!

I was in complete disbelief, and I thought "Yep, you are your mom" so I decided that mom gets to handle the attitude. She’s usually a very good two year-old so I was in complete disbelief. FYI. I reminded my daughter to start watching her mouth in typical grandma fashion, and I could hear my own mother coming right on through. We really do turn into our own parents. A two-year-old is turning into my child and I am turning into my mother.

I hear ya my grand is about 15 mos and he is speaking really well saying many words. I have reminded myself more than once that I have to start monitoring my words. I speak with the verbiage of a sailor or an old nurse so lots of bad words in general speech.
The baby repeats many words and is already giving the dogs commands, so I have to stop with the bad words.

Remember: kids imitate the adults around them. When they get confronted, they generally change.

My 2-3 yo GS once said to his mom, 'Don't even think about not giving me what I want.' His mom used the 'don't even think about' formula a lot.

My son? 'Fuck' was one of his 1st words. I changed then, but he kept the word around for use with friends.

One of his 1st sentences was, 'Go, Po, go!' We were watching 'Hockey Night in Canada', and Phil Esposito got a break-away against the Canadiens. I said it. He looked at and copied me. The goalie blocked the shot. mad

My 9yo grandson was displeased about me not allowing him to do something and said, "You'll be hearing from my attorney." laugh

The 5yo got on a "BOOBS!" kick about a year ago, which was egged on by his father. We all got tired of fighting it and now that's how we get him to smile for pictures. He's in kindergarten and knows not to say it at school, thank god!

I always thought it was hilarious when my babies would say "shit" or "dammit" in the right context. They'd drop a toy and... "shit." We'd correct them, but we were also laughing to each other about it. laugh

She’s usually very sweet. I told her mother, who is my daughter. I could completely hear it coming out of her mouth so I reminded her she may want to watch what she says. Then I told her good luck. The grandma deal isn’t so bad. You get to send them home to their parents to deal with the shenanigans.
