Never a dull moment for us!

Today is a PA day, so no school. IC and I scheduled the older two for today. Dd was first. The other 3 and I went to go do laundry but first I stopped at the grocery store to pick up more detergent then thought maybe I'd get some drinks and snacks for the kids while we wait for laundry. The kids stayed in the car.

I come out and DS is upset/angry. A vehicle leaving had hit our car hard enough for Big D to hit his head on the door. The driver looked at the kids then took off. Damage isn't to bad to the back bumper.

Luckily there was a witness who also knows the driver who hit us. He was nice enough to give a statement to police.

The officer was amazing and let the kids check out his car and turn on the lights and siren.

Needless to say we didn't get laundry done. Went back to IC, picked up dd and dropped of ds.

Thank GOD ds had IC becauze he was really upset. He didn't cry or anything but he was shaking. He said the look the driver gave him was the same look his dad would give him when he was mad. Sad how an event that has nothing to do with his dad still brings out all those feelings.

So while ds was with IC the rest of us got laundry done.

The officer said he would track down the driver but whether or not he'd be charged I don't know. The damage isn't bad enough to go through insurance but since it's not my car ill let the owner (who knows everything) make that decision.

Can ya'all just send some mojo or say a prayer for the craziness that's my life. Geez I really just want boring lol

Mojo on its way.

I'm glad your kids are OK. This is an especially tough time for them, so any upset is likely to get magnified, and being in a car that gets hit is likely to be traumatic for a kid anyway.

I imagine your kids are pretty nice; otherwise, I imagine a cop wouldn't let them near the car unles he really had to. smile

Thank you Sisoon.

I'm sure the officer was trying to distract the kids a bit. It was definitely traumatic.

Ds feels like he didn't do enough but as I, the officer and his IC all told him, he did good given the situation. He wanted to chase after the driver and I'm so glad he didnt. The police will deal with the driver.

Little M seems the least upset over it all. Big D is ok. His head is good. No pain but I'm still keeping an eye on him.

I'd really like a non exciting life at this point lol.

Hit and run is serious, so the police will handle it. Glad everyone is okay. And sending the dullest, most boring mojo ever to you!

Glad no one is hurt. Pretty cool experience to be able to see the inside of the cruiser. Try to focus on that fun part with the kids.
Hope life settles for you soon

I'm very relieved it wasn't more serious. The car is damaged but not enough to affect its driving ability.

Hit and run is serious. The driver saw the kids and knew he had hit the car and according to the kids he took off really fast. Makes me angry.

I joked with the kids that this was the only time I want to ever see them in a police car and definitely never on the back of one lol

I wish boring and dull was in the future but alas there's alot happening this coming week.

I'm just going to enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend. So looking forward to turkey.

I've also been trying to reconcile feelings regarding a family friend who passed away Monday of a heart attack.

Our fathers were best friends, his brother was my parents ring bearer at their wedding. I grew up with him and had the biggest crush on him. He saw me as more of a little sister.

We lost touch then reconnected last year. Talked once on the phone and a few times through messenger. We got caught up on eachothers lives. When his dad passed we just all lost touch. I'd see him online and think I'll chat with him tomorrow, I'm to tired/overwhelmed right now.

And now I can't. I don't know how to forgive myself for not reaching out sooner.

I'm not sure I'll be able to attend the funeral. I'm waiting to find out if my parents are going. With their health lately I'm not sure if they will.

You really don't know when it will be your last day. Guess I need to make sure I reach out more often.
